Peace Memorial Park + Museum + Hondori break. Best when you arrive late morning or want a focused first visit without rushing.

Full day
Miyajima / Itsukushima Shrine + Hiroshima dinner. Start early, check ferry conditions, then return for okonomiyaki or Hondori/Nagarekawa.
Before you leave the hotel
- Check rain and warnings with JMA if you plan Miyajima, riverside walks or garden routes.
- Check ferry timetables if going to Miyajima; JR and Matsudai both run from Miyajimaguchi.
- Check the official museum or facility page for same-day closures, special openings and ticket notices.
- Keep a late-evening return plan. For dinner after 21:00, check the last streetcar/bus route or plan a taxi from Hondori, Hatchobori or Hiroshima Station.

Choose the right route
First day in Hiroshima
Start at Peace Memorial Park, reserve enough emotional space for the museum, then walk toward Hondori for food and coffee. Add Okonomimura at dinner if you still have energy.
Best weather day
Use the clearest day for Miyajima. Go early, check ferry operation, and do not pack too many city stops into the same day.
Rain plan
Make it museum + food + short covered movement: Peace Memorial Museum, Hondori arcade, Okonomimura, and a taxi or streetcar return.
Gentle pace
Shukkeien in the morning, Hiroshima Castle around lunch, then a long break near Kamiyacho. This is easier for seniors and families than crossing to Miyajima on a wet or very hot day.
